Inspired by community pride
Wear My LIC was founded in 2016 by Stuart Lowitt, a graphic designer who moved to Long Island City in 2009. At the time, Long Island City was beginning to undergo major redevelopment, with its population growing rapidly from 20,000 to over 45,000 residents and counting.
As an artist and designer who previously worked on brands from American Tourister to The Food Network and Comedy Central, Stuart saw an opportunity to create a t-shirt company that would give Long Island City a unique visual identity to reflect its creative, up-and-coming vibe when he moved to the area in 2009.
